Month of April, Problems With Transitioning (Dvorak)

First of all, Happy April!  I hope this month is everything you wanted and more.  The beginning of this month gave me some welcome surprises.  Maybe just one welcome surprise.  I was supposed to have an exam today, but it got rescheduled to Thursday.  That’s given me extra time to just relax and work on the three CS assignments that I had due Wednesday.

Now to the subject of this post.  I can’t actually tell if this is a problem or not, but it certainly seems like it.  One of the major difficulties that I’ve found in transitioning from Qwerty to Dvorak is that my fingers are used to flying all around the keyboard from letter to letter, never really stopping on any key.  In Dvorak, a majority of letters are in the home row and since I’m used to not resting my fingers anywhere, it’s hard for me to keep them put on the home row.  This could just be an individual problem, but it certainly seems like one that I should fix before I can really get my speed up.
